Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How can I use less fuel when i'm getting more power?
A. As you have more power at lower revs and a lot more midrange torque you do not need to work the vehicle as hard as you would without a remap.
Therefore you use less fuel getting the vehicle to where you want it to be.
If you drive the vehicle hard all the time it is unlikely you will see much benefit with regards to your fuel economy.
Q. How will the remap effect my vehicle?
A. Your vehicle will be more responsive.
It will have more power and more torque, with a smooth delivery that will make the drive more eager, more enjoyable and an increase in MPG when driven sensibly.
Q. Will the remap damage my engine?
A. No... Driving it very hard all the time will though, just as it would if you drove it like that before you had it remapped.
Remapping optimises the way the engine runs.
All of the changes we make to the mapping are within the manufacturers tolerances for standard components.
However a remap will flag up existing faults such as weak coil packs, a weak clutch, boost leaks and intermittent or failing sensors.
Q. Will this affect my warrantee?
A. If you told your warrantee supplier/dealer then probably yes. But other than driving it or telling them then there's very little chance of them knowing.
Q. Do I need to tell my insurance company?
A. Essentially YES but as with the warranty issue there's very little chance of anyone knowing.
Some companies will raise the premium a little or not at all.
Some will penalise you quite heavily.
Q. Can I return the vehicle to its standard form should I need or want to?
A. Yes. We store your original file on our database against the vehicle registration. * A charge may apply *
Q. Do you have a warrantee with regards to the vehicle components once the remap has been carried out?
A. No. However the remap itself has a lifetime guarantee, as it cannot be altered unless by another tuner.
Q. It seems to be expensive, why?
A. Well in comparison to upgrading your vehicle to pull your caravan/trailer etc then its very little.
Or spending a fortune on a custom/performance exhaust for a 3-8bhp increase. We can see gains of 70bhp (vehicle dependant) from the remap alone.
Q. Why aren't vehicles optimised when they are produced?
A. This is because the manufacturers have to produce an engine that is over tolerant to things such as ambient temperature, poor fuel and service intervals not being adhered to. It is also said that it is done so that more variants of said vehicle can be produced with manufacturers still using the same or similar components.
